I decided last night to play with a new technique and created this batik paper. I want to have this be the highlight of the card. It's a birthday card so I decided to use the sentiment "Celebrate!"
I love how the batik paper turned out but I'm just stuck as it doesn't look finished or special. Maybe I need to scallop the light rose border around the paper? I'd love everyone's suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
I finally decided that I had to let go of this card and finish it off. I've spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much time agonizing over the design of this one little card...the recipient's birthday was weeks ago and I ended up making her another card.
(Sorry about the change in lighting. ) I tried a darker paper in back of the batik paper, a lighter color, white and nothing popped out at me. I liked Paula's suggestion of popping out a flower but I honestly couldn't figure out how to do it (love to hear more on how you would do it with the mulberry paper) so I ended up creating a new layout and adding eyelets. All I can say is that it's done. After agonizing over this for 3 weeks, I think it's time to start something new.
I still have another piece of this batik paper so if you have suggestions, keep'em coming.
Thanks again!

I love the Batik look! Hmmm ... well, you know I just HAVE to suggest ribbon, but it might detract if not done just right. Or maybe a row of brads down the top left and along the bottom right? Hopefully someone else will chime in with a clue. :-)
I think the Batik look is nice! I would suggest some bling of some sort. The brad are a good idea. Along the bottom though is what I would do.
I like the batik too. I'm wondering if you need a slightly darker layer under it to pop it more?
There is no focal point! You eyes travel all over the card and don't land anywhere. I would probably add one main flower and pop it up. That way your eyes have a place to land. I love the technique and everything else looks super.
My first reaction - what beautiful colours & effect, soft but rich; my second - it needs a touch of gold. Some brads, or edging either the pink or batiked layer with gold.
Sorry hit publish too soon.
Or any one of - a flower, jewels, brads or layer in a darker tone.
Batik paper? hmm.. any instructions?
I think this is pretty...maybe put some white behind your batik part so that it really jumps off the page?
I like the updated version! I think moving the sentiment to the bottom helped with the whole focus thing.
Nice update! It looks much more polished now.
The updated version is very cool, does stand out better. I did like the soft, misty feel of the original. Really beautiful card either way.
