So, I have a customer who requested I do a "private stamp camp" for her guests this Saturday, doing all Christmas cards. The price point she chose was 5 simple cards and 1 elaborate card for $13. This is one of the cards I designed for her camp which I'm now having second thoughts about.
I really don't want to add too much detail or layers because I'm trying to keep it simple... Oh, and I plan to NOT include the rhinestone brad in the sample I show them (uh, not making enough to give out those precious gems, besides there will be 25 ladies at this thing!).
If this looks familiar, I already posted it to SCS a while back. My suddenly questioning it may have to do with the fact that I designed it so long ago and am just sick of looking at it. Ever happen to anyone else??
By the way, I am totally willing to set this aside and just start over. This is why I usually procrastinate... because I get bored with stuff I did over a week ago!
Thanks in advance, you gals have great input!
Well, here's the second version with Wintergreen. I'm still not sure. I'd like it all without the red flower, but I'm not sure what else to put there... Oh well, I'm moving on to the other design for Saturday. TFL!

Holy cow, don't click on that picture to make it bigger- it gets HUGE!
What a beautiful card. Like the simplicity of the white background with the flower.
I like the card- good choice for a stamp camp. My only issue is I don't like that blue layer- it doesn't match the rest of the card.
I like the blue.
I love your porportioning.
Love the poinsetta...
But.. What about using your machine WITH white or green thread to stitch the blue down.
It just needs a little umph.
I love the bling.. You need it.(Check the dollar store....)
I love the corners, but I agree with Heather the blue isn't working for me.
Could you try the same color as the the flower, and change the bottom flower to the green?
I like to add "leaves" behind my flowers by punching with the 5 petal and cutting in half..placing behind the flower. That way, the green will tie in with the other green in the card. Maybe take the blue strip off and versamark on the white ( or off stamp in a green?...)One "bling" per customer might help with an upsell?
I agree with Heather... the blue stands out too much... and not in a good way. Not sure what I'd do to change it though.
I like the card just fine since you're doing a stamp camp, simple is key. The only thing that sticks out to me is the white seems really white when you add the blue on. Does that make sense?
I really like the card, simple, but elegant, but the blue is not working for me either. I think maybe trying it in a different color as suggested.
the white seems really white when you add the blue on
Does anyone remember the Final Touch fabric softener commercials from the 1970's? "Final touch with bluing for extra whiteness!"
Blue tones make things appear whiters- that is why you should wear lipstick with a blue base to make your teeth appear whiter (many red lipsticks have a blue base.)
I like the layout of the card but the blue and green don't work together - I think because they are different strengths of colour - the green is strong, the blue is soft.
So either go for a more saturated blue or a softer green (I'm sure design experts would know the correct terms)
Or go for more contrasting colours. As the design goes it would be suitable for a range of colours.

You learn something every day! ;-)
Now, back to our regular program.
Thanks so much for all your input! I must agree- it is the blue layer that's been giving me fits. I believe this started out as a color challenge and just evolved from there. Not sure when I'll get a chance to fix it, but I'll post what I come up with eventually! Thanks again for the great ideas!
My initial response is that the blue just isn't the right color...I do like that piece, but maybe try a different color? (Like a celery?) I also agree you NEED the bling to help it pop...good idea to try the dollar store...doens't have to be a jem...just something 3D. I do like the simplicity of the layout.
Kristin - I just wanted you to know I was so sure this card could work, that I made one last night! I combined a few of the suggestions, and added a red layer under the blue, and also added green stitching on top of the blue. I'll post it later this weekend if you are interested.
Oh yes, Leslie, I'm very interested! Please post! Thanks for having such faith in it! :)

The green striped DP looks better!
