Is this layout too busy? (updated 1/13/08)

I am playing with the layout of my card before I stamp images (in the white circle and maybe a sentiment layered in the bottom section). I am horrible at mixing patterns- is this too busy? All of the papers are from the same collection so they are coordinated but I'm just not sure if I am going in the right direction... help

I listened and you were right- the bandanna panel had to go! Although I loved using a circle for the focal point, a square worked better in the final layout. I'm not sure if the traditional Gibson Girl was the best image choice for such bold design elements but it is done now. If we don't take chances we don't grow as artists.

I would leave off the bottom section (paisley) it really does not add anything to the rest of the card. I love everything else. You are on the right tract. Please when you finish can you show us....I love to be inspired by others.

I am so NOT the person to ask! LOL! I usually take all my pretty papers that 'go together', get as far as you did and then I say "Now what?" This is why I come here ...

Anyway, what if you put a strip of ribbon (surprise!), or card stock to LOOK like ribbon, as a horizontal divider at the top of the paisley piece? Then you could stick the punched flowers on top of the ribbon.

You could sew around the bottom layer in a zig-zag stitch. A lot of people use a craft sewing machine, but my full size fabric machine works fine, I just had to play with the tension. Or you could use a zig-zag stich stamp if you have one - Hero Arts has a cute one or better still is Shapes and Stitches by Lizzie Anne Designs.

It's not catching my eye... but honestly, I'm not sure what would change it... perhaps the paisley needs to go? It doesn't add to the overall design.

I hope you let us see what you come up with!

I agree with leaving the paisley off. I love the flowers and would extend that to the bottom of the card. I think I would also remove the small flowers or try them after stamping on the sentiment as they may compete. I love the colors and this patterned paper!

If you leave the paisley then it needs something to divide it up. But I really LOVE the layout!!
